Editing tools include annotating(texts, arrowed lines, highlights), resizing, cropping, sharpening, watermarking, applying edge effects and many more. It also allows you to record screen activities and sound into highly compressed video files. Other features include global hotkeys, automatic filename generation, support for external editors, a color picker, a screen magnifier and a screen ruler.

For Free:

I was looking at the "Giveaway Suggestions" and saw FastStone Capture at the top. This reminded me of a tip I originally posted back in 2010. FastStone Capture was originally a freeware product, before the developers started charging $19.99 for a single-user license. Now that it is shareware, you only get 30 days to use the trial before you have to buy. I happen to still have the freeware installer before it became shareware. This version of FastStone Capture is the FULL VERSION, but it will be the latest release. This version of the installer is the latest release before the program was converted to shareware, and therefore is fully functional and does NOT need any license key. The only limitation is that it is ONLY for private (non-commercial) or educational (including non-profit organization) use. If you meet those criterias, download the freeware installer from PCbasics:

This is great for those who do not want to pay for the full version, or need any updates. Hope you enjoyed this tip!

Thank You.

Its very light-weight and portable. I like it. However, the version made available on this web-site appears to have no "screen recorder" button. The latest Farstone Capture application seems to have a "screen recorder" feature which outputs to a video file. Is there something I need to do to activate the screen recorder?

Hello,
The description in the blog post was from the developers from the current version. As the version available to download on this site is an older version, some features may not have been available when this program was freeware. Unfortunately, if you would like a screen recorder, you will have to purchase or upgrade to the newest version since it is not supported in this older freeware version.
