FastStone Capture is among the top programs for screen capture software. It excels its competitors by its simplicity, but yet outstanding functionality.
Features (via developer):
"FastStone Capture is a powerful, lightweight, yet full-featured screencapture tool that allows you to easily capture and annotate anything on the screen including windows, objects, menus, full screen, rectangular/freehand regions and even scrolling windows/web pages. You can choose to send captures to editor, file, clipboard, printer, email, Word/PowerPoint documentor upload them to your website. Editing tools include annotating(texts, arrowed lines, highlights), resizing, cropping, sharpening, watermarking, applying edge effects and many more. It also allows you to record screen activities and sound into highly compressed video files. Other features include global hotkeys, automatic filename generation, support for external editors, a color picker, a screen magnifier and a screen ruler.
FastStone Capture saves files in BMP, GIF, JPEG, PCX, PNG, TGA, TIFF and PDFformats."
I was looking at the "Giveaway Suggestions" and saw FastStone Capture at the top. This reminded me of a tip I originally posted back in 2010. FastStone Capture was originally a freeware product, before the developers started charging $19.99 for a single-user license. Now that it is shareware, you only get 30 days to use the trial before you have to buy. I happen to still have the freeware installer before it became shareware. This version of FastStone Capture is the FULL VERSION, but it will be the latest release. This version of the installer is the latest release before the program was converted to shareware, and therefore is fully functional and does NOT need any license key. The only limitation is that it is ONLY for private (non-commercial) or educational (including non-profit organization) use. If you meet those criterias, download the freeware installer from PCbasics:
This is great for those who do not want to pay for the full version, or need any updates. Hope you enjoyed this tip!
